This experimental patch delivers:
  • DASD extended error reporting.
    The DASD extended error reporting is a facility that allows to get detailed information about certain problems in the DASD I/O.
    This information can be used to implement fail-over applications that can recover these problems.
Experimental patches were only tested to a very limited extent and should be used carefully.
As experimental patches are are not part of the recommended patch-chain, they may not apply or not work correctly if applied on top of later "October 2005 stream" kernel.
When sufficient testing and code-reviews are complete, experimental patches will be superseded by recommended patches.

Warning: Only apply this patch for testing purposes, not on a production system or on any system that may get authority over a production system or access to data of a production system. Disregarding this warning may result in data loss.

To create the complete linux kernel sources, the following patches need to be applied in sequence:

linux-2.6.16.tar.gz (see www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6)
+ linux-2.6.16-s390-base-october2005.diff (IBM)
+ linux-2.6.16-s390-01-october2005.diff (IBM)
+ linux-2.6.16-s390-eer-october2005.diff (IBM)
