The Linux on zSeries developerWorks pages are currently being tested at the new URL.
So you can start using the links we have been talking about since March 2005:
- Online links: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/linux390/
- In print use: ibm.com/developerworks/linux/linux390/
Some time on Monday 2005-06-20, re-directs from our old URLs will start to be effective:
- http://www10.software.ibm.com/developerworks/opensource/linux390
- http://oss.software.ibm.com/developerworks/oss/linux390
It may be a while until the re-directs are effective, completely, but it is time to start changing your bookmarks and links on web-pages to Linux on zSeries developerWorks, as the re-directs will not be in place for ever.
Here is a summary of the changes effective on our new URL:
- Previously, our web-pages were "*.shtml", now they are "*.html".
- For the web-pages, directory-structure and [file-]names of the web-pages remain as before (except for the URL-handle, of course).
- All patches, packages, OCO-modules will remain on the awlinux1-server for a while - but will be moved to an ftp-server in the next few months.
- The PDFs with the manuals for our streams and documentation-downloads from the "Tuning hints & tips" are available on an ftp-server.
Here is some guidance for linking to our pages:
- Please do not link to downloads (patches, OCO-modules, PDFs, etc.) from our pages, directly, but refer to the html-page where the link is shown.
- Specifically, please do not link to PDFs, but to the "Documentation" page of the stream.
As we found a lot of references to (old versions of) PDFs, we have established "documentation archives" for the active "April 2004" and "June 2003" streams (referenced on the "Documentation" page), with links to superseded (but still available) editions of the PDFs.

Linux on zSeries pages temporarily hosted on awlinux1...
Since early March 2005, the Linux on zSeries developerWorks pages are available under a new URL:
http://awlinux1.alphaworks.ibm.com/developerworks/linux390/
As previously announced, hosting on awlinux1 is only temporary:
The pages will be moved to a new URL later this year.
Unfortunately, our old URLs are not re-routed to their equivalent
on the temporary home, but are re-directed to this page.
To ease the transition period, we have provided the
navigation-bar below - so you can scroll and click.
We strongly recommend not to change any bookmarks, webpages,
or documentation to the awlinux1-handle, now, unless you want to do
it again in a few months.
If you are referring to our pages, refer to the homepage.
When referring to sub-pages use text, e.g. kernel 2.6 based
"April 2004 stream" (Recommended) and the date.
If you are reluctant to use the old URLs for our homepage:
http://www10.software.ibm.com/developerworks/opensource/linux390
http://oss.software.ibm.com/developerworks/oss/linux390
you may want to use the links we plan to migrate to:
Online links
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/linux390/
In print use ibm.com/developerworks/linux/linux390/

|
Some time on Monday, March 7, 2005, the Linux on zSeries developerWorks pages will be available under a new URL.
Structure and contents of the pages remain unchanged, only the URL-handle is different.
Links to our URL-handles:
will be re-routed to the new URL.
Please note: The Monday, March 7, URL is only temporary; it will be our handle for a few months, when we will have another home-URL.
Please do not change any links to Linux on zSeries developerWorks, next week, if you are not willing to do it again in a few months.
Specifically, please do not change any links on your web-pages, documentation etc., if they have a lifetime longer than a few months.
If you do change bookmarks and references (in your documentation, web pages, etc.), next week, please be prepared to change them again in a few months.
We will see to it, that the above URLs will be re-routed to the new home-URL, when that is ready.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

alpha patches for linux-2.2.16
Two new alpha patches for Linux kernel version 2.2.16 are
available:
- linux-2.2.16-iucv2.tar.gz
This patch fixes the behavior of the IUCV driver in transmit error
situations.
- linux-2.2.16-io.tar.gz
This patch prevents the kernel from ending in a retry loop during
IPL when multi-pathed devices suffer irrecoverable I/O errors
during path grouping, e.g. when tapes units are "intervention
required".

OCO modules for linux-2.2.16
Two new OCO modules for Linux kernel version 2.2.16 are
available:
- QDIO Base Support
- OSA-Express Driver
|
linux-2.2.19: experimental patches with dump tools and OCO
modules
These experimental patches for kernel version 2.2.19
provide:
- Linux for S/390 stand alone dump records for generating system
memory dumps on dasd volumes and tapes. The dumps can then be
analyzed using the independent open-source tool "lcrash".
- A dummy module that includes headers for all kernel types that
the dump analysis tool lcrash needs.
Available OCO modules for linux-2.2.19:
- LCS driver
- QDIO Base Support
- OSA-Express Gigabit Ethernet Driver

plus some recent ones
- a backport of the tape device driver
- support for VM pseudo page fault handling
|
experimental patches and modules for linux-2.4.3

alpha patch for linux-2.2.16 and new/updated doc
- The patch fixes a "partial page write" problem. This problem
could lead to possible data corruption when writing to block
devices (e.g. DASD or ramdisk).
- Updated Manual: Linux for zSeries ELF Application Binary
Interface.
- New Manual: Linux for zSeries and S/390 Tape Device Driver Beta
version.

collection of alpha patches for linux-2.2.16
This patch contains the following compiler bug fixes:
- Bug in compiler common code (reload).
- Wrong type attribute for ICM instruction.
- Bad prolog code with -mno-backchain option.
- Bad epilog code for certain small leaf functions.
As it is not easily predictable which source code triggers the
code generation bugs fixed here, everyone using the compiler should
apply this patch.
|
alpha patch for gcc 2.95.2
This collection includes patches for:
- linux-2.2.16-dasd
- linux-2.2.16-iucv
- linux-2.2.16-pgtable
- linux-2.2.16-sense
- linux-2.2.16-signal
- linux-2.2.16-xchg
|
alpha patch for gcc 2.95.2
The patch improves the literal pool chunkify heuristics to cope
with the case of very large basic blocks requiring very large
literal pools.
|
alpha patch for DASD-ERP patches based on 2.2.16
The patch adds error recovery functionality to the DASD device
driver, which is essentially needed to support ESS (Shark). The
device driver is enabled to deal with 'long busy' error conditions
(action code '0x1D') and some related errors. |
alpha patch for binutils 2.10
The patch fixes a problem introduced with the optimized PLT code
generation. The blueprint for a PLT stub that uses a 16 bit offset
is incorrect.

alpha patch for gcc 2.95.2
experimental OCO lcs module with FDDI support

Experimental Linux 2.4 Patches and Modules
Experimental Linux 2.4 patches and modules. These patches
- consist of the previous experimental 64-bit Linux patches
adapted to 2.4.0 with some minor bug fixes.
- have the same functionality as the previous 64-bit Linux
patches.
These patches have only undergone limited testing and may not
install or function in all environments. Before using these patches
read all the warnings and disclaimers on the experimental patches
page carefully!
For more details see the Experimental Linux 2.4 Patches and Modules
page.
