We are having a debate over whether MQ 5.3 can be clustered on machines that are not physically clustered. Can anyone give a definitive ruling on this? A white paper perhaps? I have not been able to find one. :(
MQ clustering only requires that every machine in the MQ cluster can use TCP/IP to communicate with every other machine using a common resolvable network host names or ip addresses, which are defined in the CONNAME in Cluster Receiver and Cluster Sender channels.
Make sure you are running the latest maintenance level, CSD14, as there are cluster problems fixed in nearly every maintenance of MQ 5.3.
Also, you are running an out-of-support version of MQ, so don't go to IBM if you have any problems ! Please consider upgrading to 6.0.2.8 or 7.0.1.0 as soon as practical.
