I'm managing 3 box x3950 with card IBM serveraid 8i and I want to be notify if a drive become defunct. Do I need to install a IBM director environnement to receive email or trap snmp ? Any help would be very appreciated. thanks.

Dear Alexandre,

you can use standalone ServeRAID Manager for to be notify if a drive become defunct.

IBM ServeRAID Application CD v9.00-16973 - IBM System x and BladeCenter
http://www-947.ibm.com/systems/support/supportsite.wss/docdisplay?lndocid=MIGR-61707&brandind=5000008

or you can use IBM Director with ServeRAID Manager Extension:

Installing and configuring ServeRAID Manager
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/director/v6r1x/index.jsp?topic=/director.storage_6.1/fqm0_t_sm_installing_and_configuring_serveraid_manager.html

Alexander,

but I installed ServeRaid manager and I didn't find any place for configuring the alerting, you can only watch the actual status. I saw "ibm notification manager" in the IBM drirector redbook...do you know what are they taking about ? I also browse the both cd, application and support, find nothing... thanks !

Alexander,

"serveraid management agent" is running, but how do you customize it ? It' look like to be into IBM director...we don't have IBM Director... thanks
