Try this:

http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/data/

also there is lot of good and cheap books about db2 on amazon.

I recommend to download Toad for DB2 and IBM Data Studio 2.2 (with instalation manager) so you will get some decent IDEs for start. If you need J2EE application server look at Websphere Community Edition

Last piece of 'profi development stack' (j2EE application server, database, message broker) is LDAP server.
I would stay away from openldap and go to get something modern like http://www.opends.org/ or http://directory.apache.org/

Another very nifty tool for developing (which integrates nicely with db2 and IBM DS) is http://jazz.net - free for 10 users).

If you dont want to develop J2EE applications and seeking something lighter and easier to learn take a look at http://grails.org is pretty decent choice. Its better than Django and Rails.

On client side probably best choices is google web toolkit - GWT because it saves you from javascript coding and you can use nifty eclipse IDE for client-side development. GWT does not have rich set of components, take a look at some component library for GWT. People sometimes complains that GWT is slow but i found it faster and more reliable (and way easier to work with) than dojo toolkit.

All these tools are free so you can start development with professional tools without paying single dolar. I would really recommend to stay away from PHP/LAMP.

I took look at OpenDS 2.2 and its is way better documented (and featured) than ApacheDS 1.5.5 and it comes with GUI configuration tool. It should cover all your LDAP server needs for development and production, it scales to 10m entries well and its pretty fast.

It would be helpful to know what sort of RDBMS experience you already have, or how you're looking to use DB2...

If you're familiar with Oracle, say, something like Introduction to DB2 compatibility features would be very useful, but not at all if you've never worked with relational databases.
