One of my HMC's has an attention LED on. I cannot find out why this attention LED is on. I have looked in: Service Management\ Manage Serviceable Events at all open events and there aren't any. I have deactivated the attention LED from within the Server's menu which clears the LED for a few days, but then it comes back.

Where else can I look to locate the cause of the attention LED.

Thanks in advance

A stupid question but ... you say that your HMC has an attention LED illuminated. Can we assume that it is not the HMC but one of the managed systems?

If so, what operating system is the managed system running? If it was running at AIX, the errlog command might give some clues.

The LED is flashing within System Management\Servers against one of the P520 servers, it is not flashing against an individual LPAR.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks

For what it is worth, I've had most success with problems like this by just running it through google. Sometimes I get something that makes sense, other times not. If you could post the attention LED here, I will take a run at it and post the results.

From the HMC web page:
On the left panel, click on "Service Management".
On the right panel, click on "Manage Serviceable Events". You should get a pop-up menu. The defaults should be for all events. Click OK.

You should now have a table of events recorded by the HMC. Select "Full table view" from the top of the menu for more details. Detail text is the last column.

Sorry - just realized you had already tried that.

Ok - try this:

Under "Systems Management", "Servers" you should see the server with a yellow triangle. Select that one, then select "Reference Code History".
See if there's anything interesting in there...
