We need to configure a new Windows Server 2008/Standard/64bit to run DB2 9.5 as the backend for Rational ClearQuest 7.1. The DB2 install instructions state DB2 only supports .NET 2.0. However, I see some posts here where DB2 seems to be running on a version of .NET 3.5.x. Here are our questions:

1) Does DB2 9.5 support Server 2007 .NET Framework 3.5.1?
2) Is there anything special that needs to be done when installing .NET Framework 3.5.1 to run properly for DB2 9.5?
3) When installing .NET Framework 3.5.1, what are the exact settings required to be installed? There is a huge list of optional features that can be selected; we would prefer to install only those features that are required for Rational ClearQuest 7.1.x.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

For application development .net Framework 3.5.1 does seem supported.

Are you facing some issue in installation/post-installation ?

Yes...I see that DB2 Ver 9.7 supports .NET Framework 3.5.x, but the version that is bundled with ClearQuest is only DB2 Ver 9.5. I will check with tech support and see if we can get the DB2 9.7 version.

Contacted both CQ and DB2 Tech Support help desks. Here are the answers to our CQ/DB2 install questions.

Question 1: Does DB2 9.5 support Server 2007 .NET Framework 3.5.1?
Answer 1: DB2 tech support confirmed DB2 9.5 does in fact support .NET Framework 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5.1. See DB2 9.5 Center web site for supported .NET development software:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v9r5/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.swg.im.dbclient.adonet.doc/doc/c0020056.html

Question 2: Is there anything special that needs to be done when installing .NET Framework 3.5.1 to run properly for DB2 9.5?
Answer 2: No.

Question 3: When installing .NET Framework 3.5.1, what are the exact settings required to be installed? There is a huge list of optional features that can be selected; we would prefer to install only those features that are required for Rational ClearQuest 7.1.x.
Answer 3: DB2 tech support recommends installing all of .NET Framework components for Win Server 2008.
