Folks

I've been asked by a customer whether or not Operational Reporter will work with TSM 6.1

My guess is the answer is no on account of the change in the underlying DB - but I don't know for certain.

Anyone out there know the answer? Even better, can you point me to a document that states one way or the other?

Many thanks in advance.

Matthew,

It will work, but there is some "tinkering" that needs to be done to cover for the changes in the 6.1 database schema and a stricter SQL 92 standard enforcement with DB2.

After an upgrade of a Windows TSM server to 6.1 the Operational Reporting stuff is removed from the TSM management console and a install of the TSM 5.5 management console on a separate server is required.
When upgrading a TSM environment to 6.1 the out-of-the box TSM Operational Reporting Custom Summary section and Hourly Monitors will fail (and potentially customized reports may fail as well).

The change from a proprietary TSM database to standard DB2 with TSM 6.1 introduces fundamental changes to the TSM database and recovery log architecture and corresponding TSM tables. In some cases there are no direct TSM 6.1 equivalents (maximum recovery log utilization as an example) to TSM 5.5 information. This has impact on some Operational Reporting report sections and may also limit the usefulness of the TSM Operation Reporting Hourly Monitors as a "monitoring" solution.

I do have a document describing what I changed to make this work and also the corresponding Operational Reporting reporting XML files in case you are interested.

Could someone supply me with a copy of the document that Roger created, the will allow me to use TSM Operational Reporting with TSM 6.1.

I am in the final stage of configuring ths new server, but cannot get the 6.1 Reporting function to work properly, and it
does not supply all the info I need.

I would be so grateful to have a copy of the doc. I am planning the upgrade to our qae TSM server in 2 weeks. Have a ton of Operational Reporting scripts that run and need a workaround, until I can get the new TSM monitoring and reporting feature working. I'm expecting that will be significantly longer than the 23 hours I have estimated for the server upgrade.

Thanks so much for your help.

Also any tips and tricks on dedupe and hsm for windows?
