Hi all,
I'm writing this post just to introduce myself, our company and our system with technology packs (TPs) used.
Mobiltel is part of the Mobilkom Austria Group (MAG), the wireless segment of Telekom Austria. Together, the members of MAG serve 11 million customers in seven countries - Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia, Liechtenstein, Serbia and Macedonia.
Mobiltel is the first and the biggest mobile operator in Bulgaria. We are offering GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA 7.2 and HSUPA services to our clients.
My name is Krasimir. My responsibilities include administrating MPM system as a whole (start/stop, monitoring system activity and logs, check raw data availability, web user administration, KPIs & Reports creation, Alarming etc.), Informix database administration (tables size maintainance, add and remove chunks, creat custom tables, SPLs and trigers), Database online backup using onbar, Database off-line backup of raw devices used as chunks, etc.
We deployed the Performance Management solution (Metrica Performance Manager) on September 2005 sarting with Siemens and Alcatel BSS TPs and Siemens NSS TPs and till now we are continuing to installing new TPs or upgrading the already installed TPs to newest vendor's versions.
Current version of MPM is 2.2.12.
Installed TPs/versions:
Siemens BSS PM - BR7/BR8
Siemens GPRS PM - BR7/BR8
Siemens Radio Parameters - BR7/BR8
Siemens NSS - UCR2.1-SR10/12
Siemens IN - INV7.5a
Siemens NetViewer - 6.1
SEMA SMSC - OMP 2.2
Openmind SMSC - 1.0
Comverse SMSC - 2.6.14.g
Comverse VMS -
Alcatel BSS PM - B8/B9
Alcatel MFS - B8/B9
Alcatel Radio Parameters - B8/B9
Alcatel SGSN - R2.3
Alcatel GGSN - R2.3
Ericsson UTRAN - P4/P5
Ericsson SGSN - R6.0/R7.0
Ericsson Radio Parameters - P4/RC5
Nortel GGSN - 5.1
Nortel UTRAN - UA4.2 / UA5.1
Our system Architecture is as follows:
- Gateway server - transfer and parse of raw files. HW&SW - HP server rp4440-8, 4x900MHz PA8800 Dual CPU, 12GB DDR Memory; HP-UX 11i;
- Database & Application Server - HW&SW - HP server rp8420, 8x1GHz PA8900 Dual CPU, 32GB HD SyncDRAM Midrange Memory; HP-UX 11i;
*** Database - loading,summarising and archiving data - SW - IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 9.30.FC6X9;
*** SAN - HPQ EVA 5000; 2xHSV110 Fibre Storage Controllers; 120x72GB HDD; VRAID1.0;
*** Disk space available for DB - 1500 chunks each by 2GB = 3TB;
*** Disk space currently used from DB - 1400GB;
*** Backup utility - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) server - IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Databases - Data Protection for Informix Dynamic Server on HPUX11 - Version 5, Release 2, Level 1
Currently for accessing the data we are using the MPM web interface, ODBC, dbaccess and ServerStudio.
Most of our reports are ODBC based, because the html/java web interface is not very user friendly and the generated reports are not so well looking and cannot be customised at the moment.
One of the biggest disadvantages of the data in the database is using of the self-maded datatype "VARCOUNTER" which is some kind of array of all hourly values of performance counters. It is very difficult to work with this Varcounter via the ODBC.
This is from me for now.
I'll be glad if somebody shares his opinion and experience with MPM.
BR, Krasimir
