Failed to create new metric package

I am using Cognos 8.4. I have a problem when I try to create a metric package using an Oracle 10.2.0.1 data source. The data source is fine as I can run reports against it. However when I try and create a metric package I get error CMM-APP-3254 The initialization of the metrics store failed. DIS-ERR-3155 The task failed. DIS-RUN-3140 Step 'Install the metric data store' execution failed in package 'null''.

I am new to Cognos so any suggestions as to how to debug this would be great. I have created a metric with the provided samples so I know that flow works ok.

Thanks.

We had a few issues with the setup of our Metric Store, which were resolved with the help of Cognos support (The Knowledge Base wasn't much help) - so perhaps you should log a case.

In the mean-time it's worth noting that if you are using an Oracle DB for the MS, then you need the Oracle Client to be the same version as the MS DB. This is one of the most common problems people have.
