Synchronization not behaving as expected in RMC

I am experiencing an issue with synchronization and need some guidance.

I extended and replaced a task, including a new presentation name, and it works fine. When I go to the relevant capability pattern, the task is still listed as the old display name in the work breakdown structure. Opening the task from the capability pattern reaveals that several content areas are updated and several content areas are not (including presentation name).

The task descriptor does show Synchronized with Source as checked. I went ahead and did a custom synchronization for the task and it did not update as expected. I published as HTML and it did not reflect the changes as expected. Has anyone experienced this problem and does anyone know how to address it?

Thanks,
Tom

Synchronization does not apply changes made using variability. To see changes made using variability, you must view them in browsing perspective or in your publication.

Synchronization brings through changes made to source elements.
