Our current TSM server is of release 5.2. Does it need to be upgraded to 5.4 in order to backup NSS partitions on OES Linux? Or is it enough to use 5.4 clients on the OES machines?

You should be OK with a TSM Client v5.3.4 instance or (preferrably) a v5.4.0 instance. Give it a shot and post back!

This I have tried. But Im running into problems pritty quick. The problem as it seems is that the filespace for these servers aint UNICODE enabled as it is. Ive red through the migration plan för this filespaces and have enabled renaming on both server and client but durring backup, the filespace does not get renamed to _OLD and a new one is not created.

Ive tried to move the filespace out of the way by hand and then a new filespace is created, but still not with UNICODE enabled.

As soon as I get down to files with ÅÄÖ in the filenames i get errors like:

ANS1228E Sending of object '/media/nss/VOL1/arb/JBN/mpe/kattutställning 3/DCIM/149CANON/IMG_4970.JPG' failed
ANS4042E Object name '/media/nss/VOL1/arb/JBN/mpe/kattutställning 3/DCIM/149CANON/IMG_4970.JPG' contains one or more unrecognised characters and is not valid.

So, am I missing something here.

Have you set any of the TSM Client-related environment variables like "LANG"? Does the same thing happen when backing up through the 'dsmj' GUI?

You may want to open a PMR about this one...

Hello, i've got similar problem on our client, that uses some weird coding (windows i guess)

10/28/09 17:38:43 ANS1228E Sending of object '/u01/export/trans/Brno/Hodonín/Log/ImportLog2009-9-15-12-9-54.TXT' failed
10/28/09 17:38:43 ANS4042E Object name '/u01/export/trans/Brno/Hodonín/Log/ImportLog2009-9-15-12-9-54.TXT' contains one or more unrecognised characters and is not valid.
10/28/09 17:38:43 ANS1228E Sending of object '/u01/export/trans/TGN/Pisek/Imported/PMGIS_PKO_DATA_07-11-28_131612_písek.xml' failed
10/28/09 17:38:43 ANS4042E Object name '/u01/export/trans/TGN/Pisek/Imported/PMGIS_PKO_DATA_07-11-28_131612_písek.xml' contains one or more unrecognised characters and is not valid.

Was the problem mentioned above resolved or not? If so, how? Thanks.
