We have some logs we would like to monitor. I was told V2S Edit could do this, but I was wondering if anyone was using it. If so, did the directions found on the FSM Help page help or were there other directions out there?

Hi Don,

the v2s_edit is a very powerful tools to create format descriptions to parse logs with the FSM agent.
But creating the format description is only one step of several others to incorporate additional logfile monitoring into FSM.

There is a two day training available that teaches how to do all steps. If you have only a few logs per year to add, I would suggest to buy some hours of IBM service to have them do the task.

Do you have the actual class name available? That sounds like it would be very helpful.

Don,

the training I mentioned is nothing IBM offers on a regular basis, it is customer specific.

We teach the course usually onsite, so we can tailor it specifically to your needs (logfiles) and your FSM installation (assemble it into FSM). Please ask for a quote at your IBM sales rep.
