eServer : Introduction
Over the last three years, the IBM server business and systems business has been gaining in a down market. A key factor in our market increase is that IBM servers have taken on the brand name IBM eServer™ for its family of products. The IBM eServer family of products consists of IBM eServer zSeries®: mainframe server units; IBM eServer pSeries®: UNIX® servers ; IBM eServer iSeries™: midrange servers; IBM eServer xSeries®: Intel™ processor-based servers and IBM eServer BladeCenter™ servers.
IBM has been in the server business since 1964, starting with the revolutionary System/360™ family. Today, systems are called servers and fall under the IBM brand name of IBM eServer servers.
In today's networked economy, on demand computing offers a new path for growth. IBM is working closely with our clients to help solve their problems by offering a range of eServer units. In this topic we will look at how the server family has made the transition into today’s on demand world, introduce new server technologies and how we are increasing clients satisfaction through our total-solution offerings.
