I have a couple of questions.
I use blender and would like to use this as my render.
1. What is the license on this? (gpl?) Is it possible to use for commercial purposes?
2. Would it be possible to serve up files and have them sent back to my application. Personal render farm so to speak. One of the Blender's GSOC projects was to create a render api. This would be a nice option.
Very impressed with your work
Thanks
Ken

Thanks Ken,
We haven't open sourced this renderer yet. Currently it's only available via alphaWorks as a technology demonstration. We are interested in hearing feedback on how this technology could be adapted to different market segments. If the Blender community made a good case for adapting this technology to their rendering pipeline we would consider taking the project on.
We do have a version of the iRT that works in a client server model where rendering requests are sent via the clients to network attached remote Cell blades or PS3s. The requested images are then rendered, encoded, and streamed back to the clients in real-time.
I have download Blender but haven't looked it over real closely yet. Does it have a framework that supports pluggable renderers, local and/or remote?

The render plug in api isnt finished but is planned to be finished by the next version. I am not sure about remote but it should allow iRT to work with Blender.
When you are rendering with client server model, does the client limit the amount of possible polys(300,000)? My concern is that the ps3 wont have enough memory to handle large renders. Or is that handled by the server? I would guess that ray tracing needs to have the whole render to each node to compute. Thus limiting the render to 256 for the ps3.
