Given that the last update on this was a year and a half ago, I think it fair to ask - is this project still in development?

Is there any chance this new version will run over LAPI, or will it be pthreads only?

Our current plan is to release a new pthreads version to support XL C/C++ AIX, V9. Afterwards we also plan to release another pthreads version to support XL C/C++ Linux, V9. LAPI is something we are considering and we may release something down the road to support it.

I take it LAPI is something you have strong interest in? (rather than pthreads?)

Well, we were ideally wanting to use UPC on the HPCx cluster - 160 IBM eServer 575 LPARs. Without LAPI support, we're limited to running within one box using XLUPC, so we're investigating the use of the Berkeley UPC distribution at the moment.

This is really useful feedback. I've relayed this back to the development team as something to consider.

Hi,
are there any plans for porting/developing UPC implementation on Cell/BE?
