Hi Babu,
Hopefully this saves your head. As far as Portal functionality is concerned, both Portal and Portal Express are identical. You're install the same Portal in both cases. The differences are limited to the license and the bundle you get.
Portal Express was designed to be an out of the box production ready environment for smaller businesses. It's a different license package from WebSphere Portal Enable or Portal Extend. It installs and configures DB2 out of the box (as opposed to Derby for Portal Enable/Extend). Also the license forbids clustering with Express. For more details on Express I would invite you to visit this link:

WebSphere Portal Enable/Extend is for large scale deployment. Again the code is exactly the same, but the bundle is different. The primary difference between Portal Enable and Portal Extend is that extend is bundled with the Lotus Collaborative Component CDs....Enable is not. Otherwise again, same Portal code for both.
In short, the major differences between the two are:
- The licenses and CD bundle
- Express installs/configures DB2 out of the box; Portal installs/configures Derby
- Express license forbids clustering; Portal license does not
Hope that helps!
