This tutorial is the first part of a series that introduces you to Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), Web services concepts and technology, and demonstrates how to practically apply these concepts using the IBM WebSphereApplication Developer Integration Edition. This tutorial also explores the current state of Web services technology.

Prerequisites

This tutorial assumes you have a working knowledge of Java programming language and XML. Knowledge of J2EE technology and Ant are helpful but not required.


System requirements

To run this examples in this tutorial, you need to install :

  • Java SDK 1.3.1 to run the Application Developer Integration Edition Version 5.1
  • Application Developer Integration Edition Version 5.1 (trial version available)
