Learn the basics of the IBM® Customer Information Control System (CICS). With a hands-on exercise, learn how to get your first CICS application up and running on your desktop using TXSeries® V6.1 for Windows®. The tutorial shows you how to download and install a free trial version of TXSeries V6.1.

Prerequisites

It is assumed you have a general familiarity with the Microsoft® Windows operating system, Web-browsers such as Internet Explorer, and Windows utilities such as the command line interface.


System requirements

To complete the steps in this tutorial, you need to install TXSeries for Multiplatforms V6.1, which requires one of the following operating systems:

  • Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2
  • Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition with Service Pack 1
  • Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition with Service Pack 1

This tutorial was written using Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2. You must have Administrator privileges for your Microsoft Windows user account.
