This tutorial explains how to set up the security environment required to exchange messages with a secure Web service. The examples are based on testing a Web service hosted on an IBM® WebSphere® Application Server.

Prerequisites

  • IBM WebSphere Application Server Version 6.0.2 or later.
  • IBM® Rational® Application Developer Version 6 or later with all of the interim fix packs.
  • Security libraries inserted in the lib/ext directory of your Java™ Virtual Machine (JVM) for your workbench and for the IBM® Rational® Agent Controller.
  • Optional: The security for the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) implementation of IBM® Rational® Tester for SOA Quality uses BouncyCastle, which is a provider of security libraries. Use of these security libraries is optional for the Rational test product.

System requirements

  • IBM WebSphere Application Server Version 6.0.2 or later.
  • IBM Rational Application Developer Version 6 or later with all of the interim fix packs.
  • IBM Rational Performance Tester Version 7.0.0.1 or later.
  • IBM Rational Tester for SOA Quality Version 7.0 or later.

Note: Free trial software is available for these products.
