Build a Web-based client with the Eclipse Web Tools Platform

This tutorial shows you how to build a complete Web-based auction client application using the Eclipse Web Tools Platform. The auction client accesses a Cloudscape (Apache Derby) database that houses auction stock, as well as a remote auction Web service.

Prerequisites

This tutorial covers building an auction client, but not the accompanying Web service. You may want to read and complete the companion tutorial, Build a Web service using the Eclipse Web Tools Platform.

System requirements

You'll need JavaScript enabled in your browser. You'll also need to have the following software installed:

• The IBM contribution to the Eclipse Web Tools Platform and all of its prerequisites
• Apache Tomcat 4.1.30
• Cloudscape 10.0
