Learn how to embed Python applications into your C applications. This tutorial explains how Python embedding works, shows you how to translate between data types, and provides various methods for embedding Python scripts.

Prerequisites

To get the most out of this tutorial, you should have a basic knowledge of Python programming and some experience in compiling C programs.


System requirements

To follow the examples in this tutorial, you need access to a recent version of Python (Python 2.1or later). You can download Python from the Python home page at Python.org. You also need access to a C compiler and a suitable make tool, such as make, gmake, or dmake. Both the compiler and the tool should be standard with most UNIX or Linux installations.
