25 Mar 2004 This tutorial introduces you to embedded SQL programming and walks you through the basic steps of constructing an embedded SQL application. The tutorial also introduces you to the process used to convert one or more high-level programming language source code files containing embedded SQL into an executable application. This is the third in a series of seven tutorials that you can use to help prepare for the DB2 UDB V8.1 Family Application Development Certification (Exam 703).
Prerequisites
To take the DB2 V8 Family Development exam, you must have already passed the DB2 UDB V8.1 Family Fundamentals exam (Exam 700). You can use the DB2 Family Fundamentals tutorial series to prepare for that test. It is a very popular tutorial series that has helped many people understand the fundamentals of the DB2 family of products. Although not all materials discussed in the Family Fundamentals tutorial series are required to understand the concepts described in this tutorial, you should at least have a basic knowledge of:

- DB2 security
