Newly updated for DB2® UDB V8.2, this tutorial teaches you how to use the Data Mining Plug-In for WebSphere® Studio Application Developer.You will learn how to design a data mining flow diagram with the graphical user interface of the plug-in.The GUI allows you to arrange objects on a canvas. Each of these objects represent a logical entity of the data mining task you want to realize, such as:
- Creating a mining model
- Testing a mining model
- Scoring a mining model
Prerequisites
You should have the following experience:
- Basic knowledge of data mining concepts and process. There are two excellent tutorials about this topic:
- Basic knowledge of database concepts: DB2, SQL, and stored procedures.
- Basic experience with the Eclipse/WebSphere Studio IDE, especially how to work with databases.
System requirements
The following software must be installed on your computer:
- WebSphere Studio Application Developer V5.1(Download the trial version from http://www7b.software.ibm.com/wsdd/downloads/WSsupport.html) Throughout this tutorial, WebSphere Studio Application Developers referred to as WebSphere Studio.
- DB2 Universal Database™ V8.1 or higher (Download the trial version from http://www-3.ibm.com/software/data/db2/udb/v8/)
- IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner V8.2 products, which include:
- IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner Modeling
- IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner Scoring
- IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner Visualization
These products are referred to as DB2 IM in this tutorial. (Refer to http://www-3.ibm.com/software/iminer/ to search for the trial versions that are available for download.)
- You also need a database enabled for DB2 IM. For more information, refer to the script tutorial in the file imsetup.bat (<tutorial> is the root directory of this <tutorial>) described in.
