IBM® WebSphere® Information Integrator OmniFind Edition 8.3 is full of features and functionalities that allow you to build powerful, high-value applications, and solutions based on IBM's enterprise search functionality. Learn how to use Cas2Jdbc, the part of OmniFind that allows you to store selected text analysis results in a relational database. Your application or solution can combine OmniFind's powerful search capabilities with the advantages of a relational database, such as the ability to query structured information or to perform data mining.

Objectives

learn how to write your own Cas2Jdbc mapping file to store text analysis results of your interest in a relational database. The tutorial covers text analysis results coming from a custom analysis engine as well as text analysis results that are internally generated by the OmniFind system.

Prerequisites

This tutorial is written for those who want to build custom solutions based on WebSphere Information Integrator OmniFind Edition 8.3. To understand this tutorial and get the maximum benefit of it, you should already be familiar with the following topics:


System requirements

To run this tutorial, you need WebSphere Information Integrator OmniFind Edition 8.3 installed and running on your machine. Make sure you have the latest fixpack installed. You also need DB2, Version 8.2 installed on a separate machine (this machine can also be your local machine). It is not recommended to run this tutorial in a production environment. The sample document set that comes with this tutorial contains around 20 documents and consumes around 1MB on your disk. The sample database on your DB2 machine will need about 20MB.



Duration

This tutorial constists of 5 parts, each based on the previous part. The duration of this tutorial depends on your previous knowledge. Usually each part should take you around 30 minutes. The whole tutorial will take you between 2 and 5 hours.
