This tutorial provides a guided tour through the WebSphere® Information Integrator OmniFind™ Edition. It starts with an overview of the product that will focus on its main features. The intent is to give you enough information to understand the subsequent steps. Then, it describes the installation and configuration steps required to run sample searches on different data sources, such as the Web, a newsgroup, a DB2® database, or a file system. At the end, it illustrates the use of the OmniFind-supplied APIs.

Items discussed in this tutorial are:

  • Installation
  • Configuration
  • Executing and searching
  • Developing OmniFind extensions

Prerequisites

None.

System requirements

For the purpose of the tutorial, or for a test instance, a machine with one processor (2.0 GHz or more for Intel and AMD) and 2 GB of RAM is the minimal configuration required, as long as you are not running components concurrently (for example, the parser, the search runtime, and an index-build at the same time).
