- Understand requirements for setting up ER, HDR, RSS, and SDS
environments
- Become comfortable with replication terminology
- Configure and manage replication environments
Prerequisites
This tutorial is written for IDS database professionals whose skills and
experience are at a beginning to intermediate level. You should be comfortable in
using the Informix commands: onstat, onmode, and onbar (or ontape), and understand how
to set up networking connections between IDS servers.
System requirements
To set up the environment shown in this tutorial, you need a UNIX® box with enough free
disk space for as many instances as you choose to create. To test the simplest
configuration, you will need at least two instances.
