Configure and manage all forms of replication options available with IBM® Informix® Dynamic Server (IDS) 11. The seventh in a series of eight tutorials, use this tutorial to help prepare for the IDS 11 exam 918.

Objectives

  • Understand the various replication offerings available with IDS 11

  • Understand requirements for setting up ER, HDR, RSS, and SDS environments

  • Become comfortable with replication terminology

  • Configure and manage replication environments

Prerequisites

This tutorial is written for IDS database professionals whose skills and experience are at a beginning to intermediate level. You should be comfortable in using the Informix commands: onstat, onmode, and onbar (or ontape), and understand how to set up networking connections between IDS servers.


System requirements

To set up the environment shown in this tutorial, you need a UNIX® box with enough free disk space for as many instances as you choose to create. To test the simplest configuration, you will need at least two instances.
