Prerequisites
To take the DB2 9 DBA exam, you must have already passed the DB2 9 Fundamentals exam 730.
If it's available, we recommend that you take the DB2 Fundamentals tutorial series before starting this series. If the Fundamentals series is not yet available, it's fine to do this DBA series first. Although not all materials discussed in the Family Fundamentals tutorial series are required to understand the concepts described in this tutorial, you should at least have a basic knowledge of:
- DB2 instances and databases
- Database objects (table spaces, tables, and indexes)
- Basic SQL operations (
UPDATE, INSERT, DELETE, and SELECT statements)
- XML data type and XQuery statement
- Label-based access control (LBAC)
- Different types of constraints
- DB2 Command Line Processor for invoking DB2 commands
- DB2 backup and restore strategies. Refer to the DB2 Backup and Recovery tutorial for details on this topic (see Resources).
System requirements
You do not need a copy of DB2 to complete this tutorial. However, you will get more out of the tutorial if you download the free trial version of IBM DB2 9 to work along with this tutorial.
