Learn about this exercise

In this exercise, you will use WebSphere Message Broker Connectivity Pack for Healthcare to integrate simplified medical records applications with a pharmacology application.

The purpose of this exercise is to help you understand the ease with which developers can create point-to-point connections using the HL7 protocol. After performing the integration, you will test the acknowledgements and sequencing of messages for your receiving applications.

In advanced scenarios, you may also learn how:

  • The HL7 pattern can be used to manage duplicate message processing, message filtering, segment filtering, and handle canonical data feeds
  • Monitoring tools can be used to assess the health of HL7 components and monitor the status of HL7 requests.
