Install and configure other development tools
Establish a database connection from the IDE
Before migrating any application or database components, a development environment configured to work with DB2 should exist. Make sure that all software prerequisites are met, that the network is properly configured, and that there is enough hardware to properly support the migration and development environments.
With the skills acquired through education and training, install and configure DB2. The environment you set up will be used as a repository for converted objects and further development. If you are working in a rich IDE such as Rational Application Developer or Microsoft Visual Studio, attempt to establish a database connection from within your Project in the IDE. This will simplify further development tasks and administration.
