Objectives

Prerequisites

This course assumes no pre-existing knowledge, however, the "What's New in DataStage 8.0" section does assume that you are familiar with earlier releases of DataStage.

We assume you have:

• A working relationship with data integration team members at your company
• A minimal understanding of network architecture
• Plus some familiarity with data integration challenges.

Description

This three hour self-paced online training module introduces you to the IBM Information Server product and its new architecture using a guided tour simulation that walks you through all of the product modules. There is also a "What’s new in DataStage 8.0" unit. You’ll interact with all of the new UIs, clients, and will learn about new features and facilities. Because the scope of this training may be wider than your immediate job responsibilities, it may promote a better working relationship with the data integration team members at your company.

Course outline

This course will discuss the architecture of IBM Information Server and the concepts involved. This will give ETL and DataStage developers, for instance, a better view of both the tool they use and the environment in which they use it. Data discovery professionals, data quality developers, business users, project managers, integration administrators, and consultants will learn how to use IBM Information Server to benefit from each other's work.

After the concepts section, you'll enter into a Guided Tour Product Simulation section of the training. This section will walk you through the product modules, the client UIs, the new features, functionality, and facilities within Information Server.

Finally, we'll delve into the new functionality of DataStage 8.0 contained within IBM Information Server and discuss improvements to this product module.
