Before you start
Learn what to expect from this tutorial, and how to get the most out of it.
Each company has different business requirements for its data, so the default data model underlying an IBM® InfoSphere® Master Data Management Server (InfoSphere MDM Server) implementation often does not capture all of the required party attributes. To manage this, InfoSphere MDM Server enables each customer to create party data extensions. A typical scenario requires that any new extension data can be used in searches for party data. This article provides the steps for creating a custom search leveraging these attributes in InfoSphere MDM Server.
In this tutorial, you will use the entity extension and pre-written SQL capabilities of InfoSphere MDM to create a custom search object and enable the use of the new party attributes as part of the classic party search service. Specifically, the tutorial will take you through the process of creating an entity extension to the party search object, make modifications to the underlying pluggable SQL supporting classic search, and then test your solution reusing the existing searchPerson service.
