This tutorial has shown how disaster recovery and local application recovery can be accomplished using the IMS Tools product, IMS Recovery Expert, which uses system-level backup as a recovery resource.
There were two disaster recovery solutions and two local application
recovery solutions shown. The first DR
solution used only the SLB for recovery without
applying any log updates. The second applied log updates to the databases in the SLB. The first local
application recovery solution used timestamp recovery using a recovery
point created by the IMS 11
DB QUIESCE function. The second
local application recovery solution used point-in-time-recovery to
restore the application to a specified timestamp that was not a true
In Part 4, learn how IMS Recovery Expert — together with the DB2® Tools product DB2 Recovery Expert — can provide a coordinated IMS and DB2 DR solution, where IMS and DB2 are restored to a consistent point in time.
