Follow the steps/considerations in Table3 to use the code snippet to access the merged data for different JDBC drivers. Before running any of the examples make sure you have db2java.zip, db2jcc.jar, db2jcc_license_cisuz.jar, db2jcc_license_cu.jar, and common.jar are added in the CLASSPATH environment variable.

Table 3. Key considerations and steps for using code snippets
Driver typeKey considerations/steps
Type 1: JDBC-ODBC bridge
  • Type 1 driver: sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver
  • Create a UserDSN 'LOTUSXMLODBC' using Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Data Sources (ODBC).
  • From a command prompt run java JDBCExample jdbc:odbc:<user-dsn-name> <db-user-id> <db-password> sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver
  • Sample program output

Type 2: App driver
  • Type 2 app driver: COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver
  • From command prompt run java JDBCExample jdbc:db2:<db-name> <db-user-id> <db-password> COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver

Type 3: Applet/Net driver
  • Type 3 applet/net driver: COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.net.DB2Driver
  • Start DB2 JDBC applet server using command db2jstrt 6666
  • From command prompt run java JDBCExample jdbc:db2://<host-name>:6666/<db-name> <db-user-id> <db-password> COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver
