The first article of this series on IBM® DB2® Universal Database™ (UDB) and Windows® scripting, An Introduction to DB2 UDB Scripting on Windows, shows you how to combine DB2 commands, DB2 system commands, and operating system commands using Windows shell scripts to automate many of the administrative, operational, and maintenance tasks required to properly support a DB2 UDB for Windows systems.
In the second article in this series, DB2 UDB Scripting with Windows Script Host (WSH), we continued our exploration of scripting with DB2 UDB for Windows by covering some more advanced scripting techniques using Jscript and VBScript, the two native Windows Script languages, in the Windows Script Host (WSH) environment.
In this third article, we continue where we left off in the second article. This article shows you how to develop scripts with IBM® Object REXX and ActiveState?s ActivePerl and PerlScript. We explore some practical scripting examples using these scripting languages, including the use of the WSH environment.
Topics covered include:
- Scripting with ActivePerl
- Perl Database Interface (DBI)
- DB2 PerlScript and WSH Scripts
- Scripting with Object REXX
- Installing Object REXX
- DB2 REXX Interfaces
- DB2 Object REXX and WSH Scripts
