If you install DB2® Information Integrator on a different server from the Oracle server -- for instance, on host DOER (instead of THINKER where Oracle is installed) --
perform the following steps before installing DB2 Information Integrator:
- Contact the Oracle DBA and obtain a Oracle userid, table names, and the connection information for the Oracle server. The connection information that is needed is in the Oracle server's listener configuration file (
listener.ora).
You need from that file the following items:
- The hostname
- The istener port (1521 is the default)
- The Oracle server's service name or SID
- On the DB2 Information Integrator server, install the Oracle client.
- Configure the Oracle client to connect to the Oracle server. On Windows, there is the Oracle Net Client Configuration Assistant GUI for doing this. This creates the Oracle client configuration file (tnsnames.ora) and puts an entry into it for the Oracle server.
- Then install DB2 Information Integrator.
