DB2 Query Patroller provides query and resource management for decision support systems. The primary purpose of planning capacity for Query Patroller is to estimate the additional hardware resources required (if any) as well as determining tuning methodologies to utilize Query Patroller on a DB2 UDB Enterprise - Extended Edition system. This article outlines the steps that are essential in performing capacity planning as well as in tuning the performance of Query Patroller.

About the authors

Bill Comeau worked in the AS/400 Application Development team for five years before joining the DB2 Administration Tools Team as a developer and team lead. Most recently, he has taken on the role of development manager for the DB2 Query Patroller team.


Lidia Widjojo has been with IBM for almost four years, is certified in DB2 UDB Database Administration and DB2 UDB Database Application Development. In the past couple of years, she has been working in the DB2 Tools Team as one of the developers of DB2 Query Patroller. During the previous two years, Lidia was in the System Verification Test department, where she was responsible for testing DB2 UDB EE and DB2 Query Patroller.
