IBM Cognos 8 Controller allows various methods to secure your applications. You can create groups of data items and apply the different items to the different users or user classes in order to tailor their data access rights. You can create menu groups and assign these to users or user classes to tailor which areas of the product the individuals can access. You can also create linked structures which is a form of security but also a form of control. It ensures that when a particular company, account or other item is used, that only the specified combination of forms, reports, etc. can be used with it. You can lock accounts for data entry by a number of processes/steps.
