Ari Valtanen comes to IBM from the acquisition of Solid Information Technology, where he was co-founder, Senior Vice President, and Chief Technology Officer. Valtanen has more than 20 years of experience in professional software development and delivering innovative products.
As a member of the founding team at Solid, Valtanen spent 7 years as an architect in core product development in Helsinki, Finland. In 1999, when Solid headquarters moved to California, he relocated with it, and has since worked directly with Solid's key customers and partners worldwide, coordinating and at times managing the work of technical pre-sales, technical support, product management, and product development teams. Valtanen's passion is doing whatever is necessary to win the first reference customers in a new market, market segment, or geography.
Valtanen holds a Masters of Science degree from the Department of Engineering Physics from the Helsinki University of Technology, with majors in computer science and acoustics.
