The certification test, Test 000-302 DB2 9 Database and Application Development (either version 302 or version 302A), is a 90 minute online test that can be taken upon the completion of an approved preparation course (see the Class organization tab). Certification exams are available at no charge when the class organization steps leading up to certification testing have been completed successfully. View additional information on the Certification Testing details page.
An IBM employee must proctor the online certification test, which is typically given on the university campus using internet-connected computers. Further information regarding the certification testing organization is available in the Class organization tab.
It is strongly recommended that students get sufficient time to learn the material and study for the exam. If they are taught the content in a condensed format (such as a 3-day workshop), it is best to give them additional time to study the material, either prior to the class or after the class, before they take the exam.
Those who complete the course and pass the 302 certification exam (either the 302 or the 302A version) will be IBM Certified Academic Associates in DB2 9 Database and Application Fundamentals.
Note: Both versions of the exam (302 and 302A) will be available during a six-month transition to the updated version of the course. The 302 version of the exam will be removed in January 2012.
Q: What is meant by an approved preparation course?
A: To ensure that the all requirements are met for receiving the free certification test, the class manager must request course approval from email@example.com at least 6 weeks prior to the class. (See Step 5 of the DB2 Academic program page, Class organization tab). Note: This step is not required for courses in India or China that are organized by the Academic Initiative team
Q: Can someone retake the test if they do not pass?
A: Standard Prometric/Prime test retake policies will apply. Currently, these policies state that:
- A test can be taken no more than twice in a month
- If the test is failed twice within the month, it cannot be retaken again for 30 days from the date of the first testing.
Q: Does it cost anything to retake the test?
A: Yes, it costs $30 USD, which must be paid by credit card at the time of the test.
Q: Can I pay the proctor the $30 USD fee?
A: No, each person retaking the test must make arrangements to have valid credit card information available to use for the $30 USD fee. This information will be needed when the proctor is starting your test.
Q: How can I find out about retaking a test?
