The following platforms are supported with the UIMA SDK.

Platform requirements for UIMA SDK

Operating systems: Windows® 2000, Windows XP, and Linux® Intel® 32-bit platforms (tested).

Java tool: Java 1.4 (tested with IBM Java SDK 1.4.2 (included in installer package); will not run on 1.3 or lower levels)

Note: Other platforms and JDK implementations may work but have not been significantly tested.

Installation instructions for UIMA SDK

Be sure to pick the right version of the UIMA SDK, depending on your OmniFind or DB2 Warehouse version:

Windows:

  1. Download the file UIMA_SDK_<version>_setupwin32.exe to a temporary directory.
  2. Start the executable file in order to launch the UIMA Installation Wizard.
  3. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard.
  4. After successful installation, the wizard will launch a browser displaying the readme file, which contains pointers to more information. This file can also be found at <your installation directory>>\docs\readme.html.

Linux:

  1. Download the file UIMA_SDK_<version>_setupLinux.bin to a temporary directory.
  2. Make sure that the file has "user execute" permissions on your file system. If required, use "chmod" to set the permissions appropriately.
  3. Start the executable in order to launch the UIMA Installation Wizard.
  4. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard.
    By default, UIMA will be installed into the /opt/IBM/UIMA directory. Make sure that you have permission to create and access this directory, or change the target directory appropriately.
  5. After successful installation, the wizard will launch a browser displaying the readme file, which contains pointers to more information. This file can also be found at <your installation directory>/docs/readme.html.

Other platforms:

  1. Depending on the ZIP program available on your platform, choose either the .zip or the .tgz package.
  2. Download the file to a temporary directory.
  3. Extract the file into a directory of your choice.
  4. Follow the instructions in the readme.html file, which is found in the docs subdirectory.
