Issue 6.3: September 30, 2014

Current issue

The fall issue of the IBM BPM Journal looks at such tasks as configuring transaction and compensation logs for HADR, creating an IBM ODM decision service, migrating from WebSphere Process Server V6.2 to IBM BPM 8.5.5, deploying an IBM Business Monitor server installed in a separate WebSphere cell, customizing a Document Control list in IBM BPM V8.5, and managing and detecting orphan tokens through the REST API Tester and a BPM command line utility. This issue also includes an update to a previous tutorial on IBM ODM golden cell topologies.

Creating a decision service in IBM ODM that accesses a database table to make decisions

    by Keerthana Sharath
Most enterprise applications today are very dynamic in nature. Customer scenarios often require querying database tables for fetching values, which are then used to execute the rules instead of using static data. This tutorial shows you how to create a decision service in IBM ODM V8.5 that accesses a database table to make decisions.

Installing and configuring an IBM ODM golden topology (an update)

by Jose de Freitas and Pierre Feillet
This tutorial is an update to the previous tutorial on IBM ODM deployment environments that is applicable to IBM ODM versions 8.5 and 8.6. The update addresses the changes that impact the ODM golden topologies that were introduced in the first tutorial, such as the change to the deployment recommendation for the Rule Execution Server console. It also takes into account feedback from customers and practitioners. For example, the tutorial now provides a more prescriptive set of options for deploying staged deployment environments.

Using the REST API Tester to manage orphan tokens in IBM BPM V8

    by Pratima Ahuja
Migrating instances in IBM BPM from one snapshot version to another can result in orphan tokens. This tutorial shows how to manage orphaned instances that may occur as a result of changes in the business process model. It also shows how to manage orphan tokens through the REST API Tester and how to detect potential orphan tokens by using a BPM command line utility.
