A new manageability model is supported in addition to the CIM-M12 manageability model. The Common Manageability Model (CMM) supports managed resources that send asynchronous event information (Common Base Events). A JAVA based decision algorithm is used for CMM resource models.
The Simple Agent Reference Application:
Supports a detached client interface: The main part of SARA runs in an RMI Server along with the embedded engine. The client front-end runs in a separate JVM communicating with the server portion using RMI.
Supports a detached client interface: The main part of SARA runs in a web server along with the embedded engine. The client front-end runs in a separate JVM communicating with the SARA web server application using web services.
The Mozilla Rhino based JavaScript interpreter is replaced by an IBM JavaScript interpreter.
New SARA commands and operands:
shutdownrmi - shutdown RMI server
stoprme - stop autonomic engine processing of resource models
startrme -reset - start the autonomic engine with no knowledge of previously installed resource models
The logging interface contains a new query method for use by trace entries to determine if a trace level is enabled.
Common Base Events are now processed asynchronously, allowing AME to provide faster responses to occurring events.
Receive incoming Web Services-based CBEs.

The following enhancements are now available in the Autonomic Computing Toolkit Release 2:
Generic Log Adapter and Log Trace Analyzer Tooling
A fixpack has been applied to the Generic Log Adapter Configuration Editor and Log and Trace Tooling package.
Added Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) Request Profiler example. In Version 3.0, a sample referenced in the documentation was omitted from the packaging. With this fix, it has been added.
New sample for creating and configuring Common Base Events. This new sample demonstrates creating and configuring Common Base Events using the Common Base Event XML file template Event Factory, and logging the newly created Common Base Events to the console. The sample includes the Java source code, dependencies, and a configuration file necessary to create and configure a Common Base Event.
Generic Log Adapter Runtime and Rule Sets
Outputter to support Web services.
A fixpack has been applied to the Generic Log Adapter Runtime and Rule Sets package.
Added log adapter for Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance. An adapter has been added for importing logs from Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance into the Log and Trace Analyzer.
Improved performance for AIX Errpt adapters. In Version 3.0, AIX Errpt adapters performed poorly when converting product-generated logs into a Common Base Event form. The performance of these adapters has been improved.
Improved performance for IBM WebSphere Commerce Server ecmsg adapters. In Version 3.0, WebSphere Commerce Server V5.4 ecmsg parsers took a long time to convert product generated logs into a Common Base Event form. This performance has been improved.
Removed hard coded year value from AIX Errpt parser. In Version 3.0, the AIX Errpt parser was using a hard coded year value (2003) in the rules for the logs that do not have year value in the log records. It now places the current year of the system in the timestamp instead.
Corrected the static parsing of IBM DB2 V7.1 diagnostic log. In Version 3.0, importing an IBM DB2 V7.1 diagnostic log using the static parser sometimes causes the parser to go into an infinite loop. The static parser fails to correctly parse logs that contain error messages at the end of lines. The static parser class is now able to parse these types of records.
Improved performance of IBM DB2 V8.2 diagnostic log adapter. In Version 3.0, IBM DB2 V8.2 diagnostic log parsers take a long time to convert product-generated logs into a Common Base Event form. This performance has been improved.
Corrected the timestamp format in sample adapter files. In Version 3.0, some of the sample adapter files included with the Generic Log Adapter contain Implementation and Role creation date values for the Context and Components in an incorrect timestamp format. When these files are opened in the Generic Log Adapter Configuration Editor, the following message is displayed: "Year separator is missing or misplaced." The affected adapter files have been corrected so that the creation date values have the correct XML Schema dateTime format.
Rational Agent Controller
A fixpack has been applied to the Agent Controller package.
Updated Agent Controller for iSeries. This fix pack release makes available to consuming products a more recent version of the Agent Controller for iSeries, making it compatible with other tools that require it.

The Eclipse components included are:
Eclipse IDE Runtime Version 3.0.2 with NLS
JDT Runtime Version 3.0.2 with NLS
PDE Runtime Version 3.0.2 with NLS
EMF Version 2.0.2 with NLS
XSD Version 2.0.2 with NLS
