Without analytics, it's doubtful there would be a Smarter Planet. Analytics, once seen as a stand-alone technology, is now becoming embedded in everything else. And that's critical to understanding all the information generated by the instrumentation used for Smarter Planet projects.

With analytics, you can instrument your processes, capture data as it occurs and use statistical models to predict potential problems. More simply, you move from reporting past events to predicting future events.
